I’ll be the first to admit it: life can get overwhelming. As someone who’s been through my fair share of mental health struggles, I know what it’s like to feel stuck in a rut. It’s easy to get caught up in things that are outside of our control – the weather, relationships, finances… and just let those worries consume us. I’ve found myself in this exact situation too many times: feeling like I’m constantly reacting to life rather than making progress.

The Discovery

One day, while reflecting on my own struggles with motivation, a crucial insight hit me: focusing on what we can control is the key to unlocking true motivation. It’s not about ignoring the tough stuff or pretending it doesn’t exist; it’s about acknowledging those areas where we have agency and taking deliberate action towards positive change.

I began by making a list of things that I could control in my life – no matter how small they seemed. This included simple tasks like cooking healthy meals, exercising regularly, and setting aside dedicated time for personal growth and development. The more I focused on these controllable aspects, the more momentum I gained towards creating a life that truly reflected my values.

A New Way Forward

As I shifted my attention from things outside of my control to what I could influence, something remarkable happened: my motivation levels soared! I found myself energized and empowered by the knowledge that I had the power to shape my own destiny. By concentrating on these manageable aspects, I began to build confidence in my ability to tackle bigger challenges.
